- Ischemic stroke.
- Hemorrhagic stroke.
- Transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke) Brain stems stroke.
The first 3-6 mths. after a stroke is when most neurological pathways & muscle memory repairs can take place.
Bottom line: do all you can to live a vibrant & active life; if some circumstance happens, you will have the physical ability and mental fortitude to hit PT hard to return to your former self.

I exercised for over 5 decades and read food labels since 1979, yet, heredity & luck of the DNA are hard to beat.
I Passed-out for 1.5 hours, laying on my living room floor…could not get to my phone for 2 hrs. – according to stats, I should have died.
MILESTONES
no matter how seemingly small.
- 6 WEEKS OUT from my stroke able to walk Methodically, carefully, inch by inch. In my hall. March 1 2023.
- 35 Days Out 20# DB D/Lift
- 5 wks 11 days out: 14 knee Pushups.
- March 13; 1mth, 3 weeks-Out: Getting Off The Floor And Back Up Again Using My Left Bad Leg.
- March 25 2023; ABOUT 9 weeks-out. Felt Back To Some Semblance Of My Old Self – Leg And Arm Still Bad But I Felt I Could Do Some Old Training Isometrics.
- 2 MONTHS Fell ONTO SIDEWALK got right back upc March 15?
- March 27, 2 mth. 10 days-out: Stood On Right Foot & Put Slipper On Left.
- Supporting With 1 Arm Put On Jeans. March 15
- 2 mths. 10 DAYS: Did 20 partial Pushups
- 9 weeks OUT was able to roll on my left arm to support myself to get out of bed.
- 10 weeks OUT, carried a drink each hand, steady no spill.
- 2.5 mths. More awareness of left arm.
- 3mths. 10 days took away two bed support handles.
- APRIL 17; 3 months; got out of the tub with stability.
- May 7, 2023: showered with no seat; stupid but did it without incident.
- Nov. started doing incline bench press: 30lbs 12 reps, 2 weeks later 60 for 12 reps, then after 10 days; by a miraculous move 90 lbs 3-4 reps.
- February & March 2024 finally able to use left hand holding shower wand; tuck in my shirt without difficulty; doing 10 regular pushups every day. Doing resistance training 3x's week.
- June 2024: I'm stagnant, had left hip & knee replaced from March into May, leg still numb, as is my arm. Having these replaced, may finally allow me to finally do some cardio and leg strengthening.
- AUGUST 2024: 6 or 7 months ago, it would take me an hour to get ready now. I get ready in no time! PTL!!
- DEC. 23 2024: Walked up a hill that I often have done; today it was oddly easy, could not believe it!...have been doing different exercises that I continually revamp!!!
